Resources from the Law Practice Management Department

The Law Practice Management department from the State Bar of Texas is a treasure trove of resources for attorneys at any stage of their legal career. Articles delve into topics ranging from starting and maintaining a practice to closing a practice and succession planning.

The Artificial Intelligence Toolkit

Another excellent resource we would like to highlight is the AI toolkit. This toolkit is a collaboration between the Law Practice Management department and the State Bar of Texas’ Taskforce for Responsible AI in the Law (TRAIL) taskforce. It features white papers, curated resources, and videos tackling the ever-evolving topic of artificial intelligence in the law.

Topics include ethics and professional responsibility, AI procurement and vendor selection, liability and risk management, and so much more. Whether you’ve been using AI in your law practice for years or you’re ready to start, the AI toolkit will have the answers and guidance you need to make the best choices.

Ask a Human Webinar Series & Answers to Unanswered Questions

In addition to the AI toolkit, the Law Practice Management department also runs a live Q&A series on AI titled “Ask a Human.” During the webinars, AI experts and legal professionals answer questions about AI submitted by Texas lawyers. These webinars are over an hour long and can be viewed on our YouTube channel. The November and April webinars are available now.

Since the main Ask a Human webinars receive so many questions, the LPM department has been publishing monthly follow-up videos titled “Ask a Human: Answers to Unanswered Questions.” In this series, Texas lawyers and TRAIL taskforce members join LPM attorney Trish McAllister in providing answers to the questions they couldn’t get to during the main Ask a Human webinars.

Benefits for Texas Law School Students

Even if you’re still in law school and haven’t officially become a State Bar of Texas member, you can gain access to digital publications and online subscriptions from Texas Bar Books for free!

If you’re a student or educator at an accredited Texas law school, you can create a “law education” account by using your law school email address. Once your account is up and running, you’ll be able to place orders for digital publications and online subscriptions from Texas Bar Books at no charge.

Law education accounts are only accessible as long as the student is enrolled in law school. This is an excellent way to get acquainted with the publications you’ll be using on a regular basis once you become a licensed attorney!
